ShuffleIt™ is developed and published by ICDRIVE LLC. The application is designed with a privacy first philosophy, meaning your music library and listening activity remain private on your device.
This Privacy Policy explains how ShuffleIt™ handles device permissions, local processing, in app purchases, optional online features, crash diagnostics, and support communications.
By using the ShuffleIt™ application, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. What We Collect and Do Not Collect
ShuffleIt™ does not sell your data, show ads, require an account, or build advertising profiles. Your music files, playlists, shuffle history, and listening activity stay on your device.
We do not upload your audio files to our servers. The limited data described in this policy falls into these categories:
- Local app data stored on your device (settings, library index, shuffle state, playlists, and metadata edits)
- Crash diagnostics on Android through Google Firebase Crashlytics (see Section 7)
- Optional lookup queries when you use online assisted features such as artist bios or library tools (see Section 6). These send artist, title, or album text to third party services. Your audio files are not sent.
- Purchase information handled by Google Play on Android or PayPal on the website for Windows (see Section 5). ICDRIVE LLC does not receive or store your payment card details.
- Support email if you contact us voluntarily
ShuffleIt™ does not use the advertising ID for ads or marketing. The Android app may declare the AD_ID permission because of Google SDK dependencies used for crash reporting, but we do not use it to track you for advertising.
2. Local Processing
Core playback and shuffle functionality, including shuffle history, Banish lists, and our trademarked Universal No Repeat tracking, is processed entirely on your device.
This information is stored locally. It is not uploaded as part of normal playback or library browsing.
3. Device Permissions
ShuffleIt™ for Android requests only the permissions needed for playback, library access, and optional features you enable.
Media library access: READ_MEDIA_AUDIO (Android 13+) or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (older Android versions) to locate and play audio files on your device. Your files are never uploaded and are not scanned for marketing or advertising.
Playback and system integration:
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS to show media playback controls in the notification shade
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK to continue audio playback in the background
- WAKE_LOCK to keep playback stable while the screen is off
- BLUETOOTH and BLUETOOTH_CONNECT for Bluetooth audio output and Android Auto
Optional permissions you may grant:
- READ_PHONE_STATE if you enable resume after phone calls. Used only to detect call state so playback can pause and resume appropriately.
- RECORD_AUDIO if you use the audio visualizer. Used only to drive on screen visualization during playback. ShuffleIt does not record or store microphone audio.
Metadata and library tools:
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 10 and below for saving tags, lyrics, artwork, or ringtones to files on older Android versions
- WRITE_SETTINGS when you choose to set a saved clip as your device ringtone
- REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS only if you choose to open system battery settings for more reliable background playback
Network access: INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE are used for crash reporting, in app purchases, and optional online assisted features described in Section 6. Core music playback does not require an internet connection.
The Windows version reads and writes files only within folders you choose on your PC. It does not use Android style runtime permissions.
4. Local Data Storage
ShuffleIt™ is an offline first app with no user accounts. App data remains on your device.
If you uninstall the app, local app data is deleted from your device by the operating system.
If you contact support by email, you may request deletion of support correspondence by emailing support@shuffleit.app.
5. In App Purchases and Payments
Android: Premium features can be unlocked with a one time in app purchase processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles payment information according to Google's Privacy Policy. ICDRIVE LLC receives purchase confirmation and entitlement status from Google so premium features can be unlocked. We do not receive your credit card or bank details.
Windows: The Windows app is sold through the ShuffleIt website using PayPal. PayPal processes payment information according to PayPal's Privacy Policy. ICDRIVE LLC may receive your name, email address, and transaction details needed to deliver your download and provide support. We do not receive or store your full payment credentials.
6. Online Features and Third Party Services
ShuffleIt™ is designed for offline playback, but some features use the internet when you choose to use them or when your device is online.
What is never sent: your audio files, full library contents, or listening history to ICDRIVE LLC servers.
Artist biography lookup: When you view an artist page, the app may send the artist name to Last.fm and, if needed, Wikipedia to retrieve public biography text. Results are cached locally on your device.
Library tools and metadata search: Premium library tools such as Batch Auto Tag, tag search, and missing artwork assistance may send artist, title, and album text to public metadata services including Discogs, MusicBrainz, the Apple iTunes Search API, and Deezer to suggest tags or album art. If you apply a result, the app saves that metadata or artwork locally to your files or app storage. These requests are initiated by features you use, not for advertising.
Third party privacy policies: Those services handle query data under their own policies. We recommend reviewing their policies if you use these features frequently.
If you prefer not to use network assisted features, you can use ShuffleIt offline for playback, shuffling, and local library management without using artist bio loading or metadata lookup tools.
7. App Stability and Diagnostics
The Android version of ShuffleIt™ uses Google Firebase Crashlytics. If the app crashes, technical data such as device model, Android version, app version, and crash stack traces may be transmitted automatically to help us identify and fix issues. This data is used for stability and debugging. It is not used for advertising and does not include your music files.
Crash reporting is enabled in release builds. You may also contact support manually at support@shuffleit.app.
The Windows desktop app does not include Firebase Crashlytics.
8. User Responsibility
ShuffleIt™ plays and processes audio files that already exist on your device. The app does not provide or distribute music content.
Users are responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to use, modify, or create ringtones from any audio files stored on their device. ShuffleIt™ does not monitor or control the source of these files.
9. Data Deletion
Because ShuffleIt™ does not use user accounts or cloud storage for your library, app data remains on your local device. All local app data can be cleared at any time via your device's app settings, and uninstalling the application removes local app specific data.
To request deletion of support emails you have sent us, contact support@shuffleit.app.
Purchase records retained by Google Play or PayPal must be managed through those services according to their policies.
10. Website Privacy
This privacy policy applies to the ShuffleIt™ Android and Windows applications and the ShuffleIt website at shuffleit.app.
The website uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics such as pages visited, general location derived from IP address, device type, and browser information. This helps us understand site traffic and improve the website. The website does not require user accounts and does not use advertising trackers in the app sense.
You can learn how Google handles analytics data in Google's Privacy Policy. Post purchase download pages are not indexed by search engines and are intended only for customers who completed checkout.
11. Children's Privacy
ShuffleIt™ is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through support communications, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
13. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
ShuffleIt™ is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we strive to ensure the application functions reliably, ICDRIVE LLC makes no warranties regarding uninterrupted operation, compatibility with all devices, or the absence of errors.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ICDRIVE LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use or inability to use the ShuffleIt™ application, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of music files, device malfunction, or other technical issues.
Users are responsible for maintaining backups of their personal data and media files.
